The State of Illinois operates community-based testing sites where anyone can get tested for free, regardless of symptoms or other criteria.
Public health officials say testing is crucial to identifying new cases and taking immediate action to prevent additional spread.
Free at-home COVID-19 tests are now available to be shipped to your residence. A mailing address is all that is required. You do not need insurance, a credit card or any other identification.
Visit www.covidtests.gov to order free at-home tests.
The case numbers reported by the Health Department each week reflect only the cases confirmed through an official testing site such a pharmacy, physician's office, health department, school SHIELD testing, etc. If you test positive on a home test and decide not to test at an official testing facility, please alert the Health Department of your positive home test by emailing name, age, zip code and date of positive test to health@oak-park.us. While this won't be included in the official tally, it will help give the Health Department a sense of the number of new cases beyond the official tally it receives from the state.
