The application process for potential candidates is a rigorous process which requires the submission of an application and the appropriate fee; submission of college transcripts, proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License; proof of valid Police Officer Wellness Report (POWER); a written test, and a preliminary character assessment. Candidates who successfully pass these requirements will be invited to an oral interview with the Fire and Police Commission. Following the oral interviews, the final Promotional Eligibility list is posted showing each candidates scores. Candidates are hired in the order of their ranking on the list.
A mandatory written exam will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Testing will take place at Oak Park River Forest High School (cafeteria) located at 201 Scoville Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302. Additional details will be provided to eligible candidates approximately one week prior to the exam.
