Parking restrictions to resume on Oct. 26

Updated Sept. 28, 2020

Enforcement of the on-street, overnight and daytime parking restrictions is scheduled to resume at 2 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 26.

Restrictions were first eased in March when emergency steps were taken in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. A local emergency declaration is no longer in effect and the annual leaf pickup program is set to begin on Nov. 2. Colder weather also increases the likelihood that the snow parking emergency plan may need to be implemented.

Residents are reminded that restrictions were not eased in metered and pay station spaces, and paid overnight permit areas, including posted on-street zones and lots. All other parking regulations related to traffic and public safety such as no parking here to corner or between signs also remained in effect.

Any updates will be posted on this webpage.

Parking space is a scarce resource in the Village of Oak Park, which was fully developed by the 1930's before the numbers of vehicles had reached today’s levels. Available space must be managed through regulations in order to balance need with supply. Parking Services manages all public parking, including enclaves, garages and more than 100 off-street lots. Staff issue parking permits and passes as well as vehicle licenses.
