2019 community awards celebrate stewardship

Dec. 12, 2019 - More than 60 individuals, organizations and businesses were recognized at the Village of Oak Park's annual community awards ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Village Hall.

The awards offer an opportunity for several of the Village's volunteer commissions to recognize citizens for their commitment to protecting Oak Park's heritage and making the Village a vibrant place for residents and visitors alike.

This marked the first year that the Aging in Place Commission recognized businesses, organizations and individuals that provide extraordinary accessibility for older residents and their families. The Oak Park Arms adult day care program and the Kindness Creators Intergenerational Program, which is also located in the Oak Park Arms, were two of the six entities honored with 2019 Aging in Place Awards.

The Community Design Commission recognized 17 Cavalcade of Pride Award winners and the Disability Access Commission presented two Disability Access Awards. Seven Preservation Awards were handed out by the Historic Preservation Commission, and five Green Awards were distributed by the Environment & Energy Commission.
