Historic Preservation Commission

Mission: The Historic Preservation Commission evaluates proposals affecting the Village's landmarks and historic districts. The Commission considers compatibility of development with long- range preservation of historical sites and recommends sites for historic landmark designation. The Commission also reviews building permit applications affecting properties in the Village's three historic districts and historic landmarks throughout the community.

Membership:  11 members

Qualifications:  At least eight members of the Commission shall have demonstrated expertise in the discipline of history, architectural history, art history, architecture, engineering, planning, law, real estate, historic preservation or related field.  Additionally, one member shall include a resident or business person in one of Oak Park's designated Historic Districts.

Length of Term: 3 years

Meeting Schedule: Meets at 7:30 p.m., the second Thursday of every month at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. If you require assistance to participate in any Village program or activity, contact the ADA Coordinator at 708.358.5430 or e-mail adacoordinator@oak-park.us at least 48 hours before the scheduled activity.
