Thursday, January 18, 2018  ::   Oak Park’s withdrawal from the Divvy bike-sharing program means beginning Tues., Jan. 23, riders will no longer be able to pick up or drop off bicycles in the Village.
Thursday, January 18, 2018  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating the report of an attempted carjacking at about 6:30 p.m., Wed., Jan. 16, in the 1100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.The car was found still parked at the same location where the attempt was reported to have occurred. Investigators believe the suspect may have accidentally turned off the keyless ignition system.
Tuesday, January 16, 2018  ::   At about 8 a.m. today, Jan. 16, a vehicle hijacking was reported in the first block of Pleasant Street as the victim cleaned the snow from his girlfriend’s car as it was warming up on the street.
Sunday, January 14, 2018  ::   When snow is in the forecast, residents who park on the streets are urged to plan ahead. The Village has specific rules that go into effect when snowfall measures two or more inches.
Friday, January 12, 2018  ::   An Elmwood Park man told Police he was parked in his vehicle with the engine running in the 900 block of Belleforte Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. last night when he was approached by a man who tapped on the window, displayed a handgun and demanded he get out of the vehicle. The suspect fired shots as the victim began driving away.
Thursday, January 11, 2018  ::   Charges against a Chicago man suspected of killing his 81-year-old Oak Park relative have been put on hold to allow time for a mental health assessment. Police say the investigation into the death of Patrick Dooley, whose body was found on Jan. 6 inside his Oak Park apartment, determined possible issues of mental health needed to be assessed before any criminal actions are considered.
