New hires, promotions for Oak Park police

Sept. 29, 2015 - Three new probationary police officers received a warm welcome at a ceremony on Sept. 28 at Village Hall. Richard Zasiebida, Korry Thomas and Brian Bruesch were sworn in by the Deputy Village Clerk as friends, family and their new colleagues looked on.

The new officers will be paired up with field training officers for a six-month training program starting in early October. Police officials expect the three officers to be on their own by March 2016.

"I’m looking forward to the positive impact that these three officers will have on the department and the community in Oak Park," said Police Chief Rick Tanksley.

The three police officers have completed training at the police academy, and were employed by several area police departments before arriving in Oak Park. They are the first new hires by the police department so far this year.

At the same ceremony, police officials promoted two police officers to the rank of sergeant. Michael Greet has been with the department for seven years, and Paul Baudo is a 12-year veteran of the police force.

Both will assume greater responsibilities in their new roles as sergeants. Baudo and Greet are the first officers to be promoted to the rank of sergeant since 2007.
