Off-duty police officer injured during armed robbery

May 3, 2015 - An Oak Park Police Officer is in stable condition after he was injured during an armed robbery in Chicago on Sunday morning. The officer was off-duty at the time of the incident.

"Our immediate concern is for the well-being of our officer and his recovery from the injuries sustained while he protected himself," said Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley. "We have chosen not to release additional information about the officer or the crime, since he is a victim in an ongoing Chicago Police Department investigation."

The officer is a 25-year veteran of the Oak Park Police Department. More information will be released as it becomes available.
