Public input sought on how to allocate block grant funds

The Village will host a series of meetings to gather community feedback on developing a plan for how federal funds through the Community Development Block Grant and Emergency Shelter Grant programs should be spent in the community over the next five years.

The Village received more than $1.5 million in federal funds this year from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to use for housing, public services and facilities, economic development and infrastructure — all primarily to assist low- and moderate-income persons and families.

How the funds are spent is outlined in a five-year Consolidated Plan that is developed through input from the community through meetings like those planned this fall.

Anyone interested in participating in the process or receiving more information on the meetings, is urged to email grants@oak-park.us.
