Tuesday, November 14, 2017  ::   As motorists hit the road to celebrate Thanksgiving, drivers and passengers can expect a ticket from the Oak Park Police if they are spotted without a seat belt. Stepped-up patrols and seat belt enforcement zones will be seen throughout Oak Park and the state Nov. 17-27.
Wednesday, November 8, 2017  ::   Nearly 90 percent of all crime in Oak Park is against property, but armed robberies and vehicle hijackings do sometimes occur here. The best defense, Oak Park Police say, is to try to avoiding being an easy victim.
Thursday, November 2, 2017  ::   Two Oak Park Police officers were injured when their squad cars collided at approximately 3:30 a.m., Thurs., Nov. 2, while responding to a call for assistance from another officer. Both officers were able to exit their vehicles, report the accident via radio and request medical assistance.
Wednesday, November 1, 2017  ::   The public is invited to learn more about changes to parking rules and regulations that will be tested in a pilot area. A community meeting is set for 6 to 9 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 9 at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, 325 S. Kenilworth Ave.
Friday, October 27, 2017  ::   The revocation of the business license of Austin Pantry, 1 Chicago Ave. has been upheld by the Business License Appeal Board. In a unanimous vote Thursday, the Appeal Board consisting of three Village Board Trustees ruled that the administrative decision by the Village Manager last month to revoke the license should stand.
Wednesday, October 25, 2017  ::   Residences selected at random have been invited to participate in a community survey to help policy makers better understand priorities for government action and citizen opinions on quality of life and public services. All responses are anonymous.
Tuesday, October 24, 2017  ::   Telephone service at the Village of Oak Park is temporarily unavailable. The emergency 9-1-1 service is working without interruption, but all other incoming and outgoing calls are not available as crews work to restore the system.
Monday, October 23, 2017  ::   Official hours for Halloween trick or treating in Oak Park are 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Parents are encouraged to accompany young children, especially after dark, and inspect all treats.
Wednesday, October 18, 2017  ::   Residents interested in really getting to know the details of their Oak Park properties have an online resource available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Thursday, October 12, 2017  ::   The 2017 fall leaf collection program is scheduled for October 16 through November 30, with seven pickups planned for each quadrant of the Village. Leaves raked into the streetsare pushed into piles during the night, and then collected for recycling the following day.
