Friday, February 11, 2022  ::   The Village Board today named Long Beach, Calif. Deputy City Kevin J. Jackson as the sole finalist to serve as the next Village Manager. A vote on the appointment likely will occur at the Village Board meeting on Tues., Feb. 22.
Wednesday, February 2, 2022  ::   Oak Park's emergency snow parking rules are in effect. Parking is prohibited on main streets designated as snow routes and restricted to either the odd or even address side of the street, the side determine by the odd/even date. Sidewalk shoveling is required.
Tuesday, February 1, 2022  ::   The Village Board will interview an additional applicant this week as part of the ongoing search to find the best candidate for the top municipal administrative post in Oak Park. Four candidates are being considered for the job.
Friday, January 14, 2022  ::   Oak Parkers can learn more about the three finalists vying to be Village Manager at a virtual public forum set for 7 p.m., Sun., Jan. 23. A link to the virtual meeting is now available. The forum also will be streamed on the Village website.
Friday, January 14, 2022  ::   A Berwyn man has been charged aggravated driving under the influence in connection with a traffic accident that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Oak Park resident on Nov. 21.
Friday, January 14, 2022  ::   An Oak Park man has been charged in an attempted carjacking after his intended victim and a bystander held the suspect until Police could arrive and make an arrest.
Tuesday, January 11, 2022  ::   The lobby at Village Hall will remain closed to most in-person services through at least Jan. 28. Services will continue to be available at www.oak-park.us/onlineservices as well as by appointment for time-sensitive transactions such as property transfers.
Tuesday, January 4, 2022  ::   For the first time since the 1990s, the Village has contracted with a new garbage hauler. On April 1 Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will take over the weekly collection of trash and recycling for residential properties with five or fewer units.
Tuesday, January 4, 2022  ::   When dangerously cold temperatures strike, residents are urged to limit time outdoors for themselves and their pets, as well as to check in on friends and neighbors who may need assistance. Warming centers are also available to residents when triggered by low temperatures.
Thursday, December 30, 2021  ::   The Oak Park Department of Public Health announced that proof of vaccination will be required for patrons of dining, fitness and entertainment facilities in Oak Park effective Jan. 10. The public health order largely mirrors similar vaccine requirements set to go into effect in surrounding communities.
