Police urge caution after assault, robbery

April 26, 2018 – Oak Park Police are reminding residents to stay alert when walking alone after dark in areas with little activity after a man was assaulted and robbed last night in the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue.

The victim told Police he was assaulted and robbed by three men as he walked alone about 10:30 p.m. near his home.

While not seriously injured, the victim said he was struck in the back with a hard object. The suspects then took the victim’s cell phone, entered a small white car parked nearby and fled south on Wisconsin Avenue.

According to the victim, he was approach by one of the men who asked if he had a lighter. A second man approached and asked for money. As the two suspects were joined by a third man, the victim told Police he realized he was being surrounded and tried to run before being pushed to the ground, struck and robbed.

The suspect who first approached the victim was described as white, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall wearing a black T-shirt. Another suspect was described as Asian, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall. The third suspect was described as white, but with no other details.
