Wednesday, December 4, 2013  ::   A veteran public servant with two decades of experience in law, housing and development grants – most recently at the Village of Oak Park – has been tapped to head up the newly re-organized department to deliver development and customer services.
Monday, December 2, 2013  ::   The new program, which began after Thanksgiving, will let anyone park free for two hours at a meter or in a pay-by-space lot on Saturdays before Dec. 25. Parking always is free on Sunday.

Friday, November 15, 2013  ::   Oak Park Police will be out in force through the Thanksgiving holiday arresting drunk drivers and ticketing anyone in a vehicle who is not wearing a seat belt.
Tuesday, November 12, 2013  ::   A recent series of late night burglaries of single-family houses has Oak Park Police urging residents to take special precautions to ensure their homes are secure. At least five burglaries have occurred since late October and two attempted burglaries have been confirmed in what appears to be a pattern.

Saturday, November 2, 2013  ::   The former owner of an Oak Park bar and restaurant destroyed by fire last year has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of insurance fraud. Frank Elliot, 26, who operated the Velvet Rope Ultra Lounge, 728 Lake St., was arrested early last night in Chicago.
