OPFD Receives Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® Grant

As first responders continue serving the Village of Oak Park, it is essential that the fire department has the tools needed to respond effectively in emergencies. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® has recognized this need and recently awarded the department a nearly $32,000 grant to purchase a Solo Rescue Decon Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Washer and accessories.

Residential Beat Officer Program Returns

OPPD is excited to announce an updated residential beat officer program. Three Resident/Neighborhood Beat Officers are assigned to the eight zones in the Village. These RBOs will hold regular meetings in the neighborhoods they serve to discuss issues, crime trends and answer questions. Residents should reach out to their RBO to offer feedback or for crime prevention advice.

Free flu, COVID-19 tests available at Village Hall

The Oak Park Public Health Department is offering free flu/COVID combination rapid tests at no cost to residents. Community members are welcome to come to Village Hall, 123 Madison St., during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays to pick up free tests from the Welcome Center.

Residents urged to sign up for emergency alerts on new platform

The Village is transitioning to a new alert system to notify residents when emergency situations occur. The new system, powered by Everbridge, requires community members to register for a new account to receive notifications at www.oak-park.us/notifyme.
