Notary Services

The Village offers complimentary notary services at the Village Hall Welcome Center during regular business hours, subject to staff availability. Services are available to individuals who live, work, or are doing business in Oak Park. Proof of eligibility may be requested.

Notary service is a secondary function of the Welcome Center team, which is part of the Neighborhood Partnerships Division. Visitors seeking assistance with Village business receive priority, and a wait may be necessary. Staff may temporarily pause services during high-volume periods or when staffing is limited. To confirm availability or ask whether your document can be notarized, contact 708.358.5410 before visiting.

Temporary Notary Service Suspension

Notary services will be unavailable from October 19 through November 3, 2026, due to the high volume of visitors expected at Village Hall for early voting and Election Day. Services will resume on November 4. Thank you for your understanding.

Before your visit

  • Bring a current, unexpired government-issued photo ID with your signature, such as a driver’s license, state ID, military ID, or passport.
  • All individuals whose signatures require notarization must appear in person.
  • Bring completed documents with the required notarial certificate and no blank spaces.
  • Bring any witnesses required for your document. Village staff do not provide witnesses.
  • Walk-in requests are limited to three notary seals per visit. Requests requiring additional seals must be arranged in advance.

Documents and services we do not handle

The Welcome Center does not notarize:

  • Real estate documents, including deeds, mortgages, conveyances, and real estate loan documents.
  • Documents written in a language other than English or requiring a translator to communicate with the signer.
  • Incomplete documents or documents without a designated area for a notary signature.
  • Passports, personal communications, or other informal documents.
  • Form I-9.

The Welcome Center also does not provide jurats, apostilles, certified copies, off-site notarizations, or electronic notarizations. Notaries cannot provide legal advice or select the appropriate notarial certificate for you.

Service availability

Staff reserve the right to decline notary services at their discretion, including when a signer’s identity or capacity, or a document’s authenticity or completeness, cannot be established. Services may also be paused or unavailable to accommodate visitor volume and staffing needs.
