Communications & Engagement

The Office of Communications & Engagement manages all formal conduits of information between the Village program administration and the community, playing a key role in all efforts to ensure transparency in policy-making, implementation, and oversight.

Responsibilities include both external and internal communications, informing the public about municipal government programs, services, and activities, and providing employees with information relevant to their duties and responsibilities.

Department staff uses a wide range of proven public information tools, including social media, the web, print, and broadcast/streaming media to carry out its mission.

The Office of Communications & Engagement also is responsible for generating publicity materials and news coverage of special events sponsored by the Village government, and provides promotional counsel to the Village's volunteer boards and commissions.

The Village of Oak Park has a number of communications channels to help residents receive the latest information about their community and engage with Village Hall.

The Village’s social media pages provide residents, businesses and visitors with information about municipal programs, services, projects, issues, events and activities. Feedback is welcome and staff strives to respond in a timely manner to inquiries posted on social media.
