Since early November the Village has been coordinating care for approximately 160 asylum-seeking migrants who arrived in Oak Park in search of shelter. Most of the asylum seekers are being temporarily housed at the West Cook YMCA and The Carleton Hotel through agreements with the Village, which is partnering with Housing Forward to provide wraparound services at the two sites. The effort has been aided by the generosity of countless individuals who have volunteered and made donations to support key community partners assisting the Village through the emergency response.
