The real buzz is coming from the 90,000 or so honey bees that are at home on the roof of the sprawling structure on South Boulevard at Lombard Avenue.
Monday, July 25, 2016  ::   Oak Park will join a growing national movement aimed at deterring tobacco use among young people by increasing the minimum age for tobacco sales to 21 years old. The law is scheduled to go into effect Aug. 1 as Oak Park becomes the third community in Illinois to adopt a Tobacco 21 law.
Thursday, July 21, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police Department veteran Anthony Ambrose will become Oak Park's new Police Chief following the retirement of Rick C. Tanksley after nearly 33 years on the force. Ambrose has been Oak Park's Deputy Police Chief since 2005.

Thursday, July 14, 2016  ::   Police Chief Rick C. Tanksley has announced his retirement, effective Sept. 1 ending a career in Oak Park that has spanned nearly 33 years. A decision regarding selecting his successor could come as early as next week.
Wednesday, July 6, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating a shooting early Monday morning that sent a 20-year-old Chicago man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. While the motive is unknown, investigators say they believe the victim was followed to the scene from Chicago.
Thursday, June 30, 2016  ::   Thurs., July 14 is the last day to purchase a Village vehicle sticker at the regular price. Sticker prices increase $20 after the deadline and failure to display a valid Village sticker also may result in a $75 ticket. A current vehicle sticker is needed to purchase a parking permit.
Tuesday, June 28, 2016  ::   The many dimensions of Oak Park will be on display when the 11th annual July 4th parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street, and marches north to Augusta Street.
Saturday, June 25, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating a home invasion and armed robbery in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue early today that sent a Forest Park man to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
