Now in its sixth year, Tour de Proviso is set to roll through Oak Park on Saturday, Oct. 4. Co-hosted in 2025 by the Village of Oak Park, the Village of Forest Park and the Village of River Forest, this free annual event is organized in partnership with Best of Proviso Township as it helps promote health and wellness throughout Proviso Township and its neighboring villages.

”Oak Park is thrilled to partner with our neighbors Forest Park and River Forest to host Tour de Proviso this year,” said Village of Oak Park President Vicki Scaman. “As a past participant, I can say that this free and family-friendly event is always one of the highlights of the year. It’s grown to become a wonderful way to promote wellness and celebrate the many vibrant communities that make our area so special.”

Tour de Proviso, which is being hosted in Oak Park for the first time, features two route options for cyclists of all ages and abilities. There is a 20-mile course, set to begin at 8 a.m. from Village Hall (123 Madison St.), leading riders north through Oak Park before crossing into River Forest, Maywood, Bellwood, Broadview and Forest Park before finishing back at Village Hall.

The seven-mile version also departs and returns to Village Hall. Starting out at approximately 8:30 a.m., this condensed route travels through host communities Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.

All riders will receive a 2025 Tour de Proviso t-shirt and participation medal. Register to participate in this free community event by visiting www.oak-park.us/tdp25. Registration must be completed by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 14 to receive a T-shirt and medal.

Following the ride, the Village of Oak Park and its partners will host a Community Fair on the south lawn at Village Hall from 9 a.m. until noon. Attendees can visit with elected officials, representatives from Village departments, community organizations and partners and local businesses. Food vendors will also be on site with music provided by a local DJ.

Volunteers are needed to help execute a successful event. Available roles include event setup and breakdown, check-in table support, directional guides and more. Learn more and sign up to volunteer at www.oak-park.us/tdp25.

Tour de Proviso was started in 2020 by Village of Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson to foster community-wide wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the event has evolved into a multi-community ride that is hosted by a different municipality each year. This free annual bike ride brings together neighboring communities for a morning of cycling and regional connection across western Cook County.
