The Village of Oak Park, in partnership with Riveredge Hospital, The Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township, West 40, Thrive Counseling Center, River Forest Township and Sustainable Mental Wellness, Inc., is inviting community members to the Suicide Prevention Summit 2025 on Friday, Sept. 19. 

The full-day event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Lodge Conference Center, 2715 Jorie Blvd. in Oak Brook.

The summit will bring together diverse voices in a shared space of learning, healing and action to advance suicide prevention through education, connection and empowerment. This conference is geared towards providers and professionals in the mental health field, clinicians, teachers, members of the police and fire departments and individuals with lived experience. The event aims to build cross-sector collaboration, center diverse voices and lived experience, promote evidence-based practices and innovation, foster community resilience and connection and encourage action and accountability.

Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Dr. Nneka Burnett-Zeigler, Chief Behavioral Health Officer at the Illinois Department of Human Services and Michael Bushman from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Breakout sessions will address mental health needs and considerations for veterans, youth, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, as well as topics such as suicide assessment, trauma-informed care, 988/mobile crisis response and grief.

The summit includes five (5) CEUs for social workers, counselors and educators, as well as lunch, and a full day of learning, reflection, and connection. Registration is $125 per person.
