New AI-powered digital agent launched to enhance service delivery

The Village of Oak Park today announced a new partnership with Granicus, a global leader in customer experience technologies for government, to launch an AI-powered chatbot on its official website. This new digital assistant, Granicus’ Government Experience Agent (GXA), will provide residents with instant, accurate and easy-to-understand answers to their questions—anytime, day or night.

Oak Park selected GXA to address the growing need for faster, more accessible and consistent digital services. Residents often face challenges navigating complex websites, understanding which services are provided by different departments or jurisdictions or finding timely answers to common questions. GXA solves these issues by delivering human-like responses in 75 languages, based on trusted, Village-approved information. This tool is expected to reduce call volumes, improve service efficiency and enable staff to focus on higher-impact work.

Residents can begin using the chatbot starting today by visiting www.oak-park.us. The agent named Oak Parker will appear in the bottom right corner of the site, and it works on any device type and browser. Whether it’s finding out how to apply for a permit or business grant, getting a plain language explanation of building and zoning code provisions or looking up what documents are needed to request specific services or find information about Village Hall's operating hours, the Oak Parker is designed to make government services more accessible and intuitive.
