Junior Deputy Clerk program returns in 2026

The Office of the Village Clerk is excited to announce the return of the Junior Deputy Clerk Summer Program, a free youth educational and civic engagement initiative designed to connect young Oak Park residents with their local government.
The program will be held on Thursdays — July 9, July 16, July 23, and August 20 — from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Village Hall. Each participant is required to attend only one four-hour session to complete the program.
Through interactive activities, hands-on learning experiences and guided discussions, participants will explore how local government operates, why civic participation matters, and how public service strengthens communities. Program activities may include:
- A guided tour of Village Hall and visit to Council Chambers
- Opportunities to meet key Village staff
- Lunch with local legislators and decision makers
- Hands-on civic engagement activities and local government learning experiences
- The opportunity to call the official roll at a board meeting
Upon completing their session, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Office of the Village Clerk.
Detailed information regarding session scheduling, program activities, arrival instructions, and logistics will be shared with registered participants and their families following registration.
