April 30th Village Board Special Meeting Canceled
Published on April 25, 2025
A Special Meeting of the Village Board that had been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 has been canceled.
As discussed during their Regular Meeting on March 18, the final session prior to the April 1st consolidated election, Board members had planned to hold a discussion about options for the future of the Village’s municipal campus prior to the new Board being seated in May. That discussion has been postponed as Village officials continue to review the viability of potential facility options for both Oak Park Police Department and Village Hall operations.
“While staff had hoped to facilitate a discussion on the future of the Village’s municipal campus before the new Board was seated, it’s important that we take the necessary time to thoroughly evaluate all options,” said Village Manager Kevin J. Jackson. “We remain committed to ensuring that any decisions regarding the Police Department and Village Hall operations are well-informed and in the best interest of the community. We look forward to continuing this important conversation later this summer.”
“We wanted to be able to hold this discussion with the current Board because we have spent so much time working on it together, but it’s clear that more time is needed to carefully review our options,” said Village President Vicki Scaman. “My colleagues on the Board and I remain committed to a transparent and inclusive process, and we look forward to re-engaging the community when we have more complete information to share.”
The next Village Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The meeting will feature a formal recognition and acknowledgement of outgoing Trustees, as well as a swearing-in ceremony for the Village Clerk, Village President and newly-elected Trustees.
Village officials anticipate the next review of municipal campus facility options will come before the Village Board for public discussion this summer.
