File a Police Report Online
To report an emergency, please call 911.
You can report a non-emergency incident online through the Police to Citizen portal. This portal can be used for instances that involve theft, lost property or damaged property. This does not include someone physically taking something from your person or any instance where an injury occurred or a weapon was involved. Some examples of instances where this system can be used:
- package delivery theft
- graffiti on your property
- property that is missing from your home or leaving items in a restaurant
- items stolen from your garage or yard or vehicle
- keying of a vehicle, etc.
The incident must have occurred in the Village of Oak Park.
Access the Police Department Portal
Non-emergency incidents can also be reported by calling 708.386.3800 or in person at the Oak Park Police Station, located in the lower level of Village Hall, 123 Madison St.
Incidents that require follow-up mental help services or support for residents in need are coordinated through the Village’s E.C.H.O. program.
If you have questions about the non-emergency incident report portal, please contact police@oak-park.us or call 708.386.3800.
Citizens may obtain copies of police reports on events in which they are involved, or other reports available through the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Requests may be made in person from 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Police Department in the lower level of Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The fee is $5 for accident reports and 10 cents per page for all other reports. The fee may be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card.
Activity reports are posted regularly to keep residents informed of happenings in their neighborhood.
Traffic Accident Reports
Accident reports can be requested either through the Police to Citizen portal or through a FOIA request. The Police to Citizen portal requires a name, driver’s license number and the report number assigned at the time of the crash. If you wish to file a traffic accident report that is not an emergency, please call 708.386.3800 or come in person at the Oak Park Police Station, located in the lower level of Village Hall, 123 Madison St. For all emergencies, please call 911.
Most reports submitted through a Police to Citizen request will be fulfilled instantly after payment is received. FOIA requests may take up to five business days for a response. Please note, certain accident reports such as those involving juveniles, significant injuries, hit-and-run incidents, fatalities or other reasons deemed appropriate by the Police Department cannot be fulfilled through the Police to Citizen portal and will not be found during a search. These will require a FOIA request.
The fee is $5 for accident reports and 10 cents per page for all other reports. The fee may be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card.
