Oak Park’s celebration of diversity and community involvement returns with the 51st annual A Day in Our Village festival on Sunday, June 1.

The premier community event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Scoville Park at Lake Street and Oak Park Avenue. More than 125 activity booths representing Oak Park civic, cultural, social service, educational, religious and business organizations will fill the park along with live entertainment and a food court featuring local restaurants.

The Park District of Oak Park is coordinating fun activities for kids, including the return of its bubble foam machine. Additional kids activities will be stationed on the north side of the park along Ontario Street. Park District officials suggest that families consider bringing towels or a change of clothes if their children plan to play in the foam.

A full schedule of music acts will perform on the Scoville Park stage throughout the event. School of Rock is slated to take the stage at 10 a.m. followed by music from Tiny Bubbles at 11:30 a.m. and a dance performance by Halau Ka Pono at noon. Music from the Yacht Rock-ettes is slated for 12:30 p.m. followed by China Groove at 2 p.m. and Retro Radio at around 3:30 p.m.

A food court featuring local restaurants will be located near the entrance to the Oak Park Public Library. Participating businesses include Domino’s Pizza, Don’t Forget Your Lunchbox, Scratch on Lake, Zemi Coffee and Candycopia.

Vintage A Day in Our Village t-shirts will be available for purchase at the A Day in Our Village information booth.

Volunteers are needed to assist the day of the event, especially from around 3 to 4:30 p.m. Visit www.oak-park.us/CommunityEvents for more information about signing up to volunteer.

A Day in Our Village is sponsored by the Village and made possible thanks to organizing support from the A Day in Our Village volunteer committee.
