Community award winners

More than 50 individuals, organizations and businesses were recognized at the Village of Oak Park's community awards ceremony on Jan. 23 at Village Hall.

The awards offer an opportunity for several of the Village's volunteer commissions to recognize citizens for their commitment to protecting Oak Park's heritage and making the Village a vibrant place for residents and visitors alike.

The Community Design Commission recognized 15 Cavalcade of Pride Award winners. Seven Preservation Awards were handed out by the Historic Preservation Commission, and 2 Green Awards were distributed by the Environment & Energy Commission.

2024 Cavalcade of Pride Awards

The Cavalcade of Pride Awards are chosen each year by the Community Design Commission and recognize property owners who have done an exceptional job of maintaining and improving the exteriors of their homes and businesses. This year's winners are:

Established in 1973, the Community Design Commission advises on policies that help enhance the aesthetic quality of life in the Village of Oak Park. Its tasks and projects include providing design advice, administering the Cavalcade of Pride awards each year and developing resource material to aid in private property development, in addition to hearing requests for sign regulation variations.

2024 Green Awards

The Green Awards are chosen each year by the Environment & Energy Commission. This year's winners are:

Established in 1974, the Environment and Energy Commission is a nine-member body that advises on policies related to the best methods of maintaining an environment beneficial to the Village and as free from pollution as is practical and is reasonable, methods to promote energy conservation, environmental sustainability, recycling, waste reduction, water conservation and reduction of air emissions.

Established in 1972, the Historic Preservation Commission is an 11-member body that evaluates proposals affecting the Village’s landmarks and historic districts. The Commission also advises on historic preservation issues and policies.
