Recovered stolen vehicle may help solve rash of burglaries

April 23, 2015 - The recovery of a stolen vehicle by Chicago Police may help solve a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred within three blocks of Clinton Avenue in south Oak Park in the overnight hours of Monday into Tuesday.

Chicago Police picked up three suspects in the 2100 block of South St. Louis Avenue early Tuesday morning in a vehicle that had been reported stolen Monday night from the 900 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Oak Park.

Police say interviews with two of the suspects indicated that they may have been involved in six vehicle burglaries – two parked inside garages – in the 900 through 1100 blocks of Clinton Avenue that same night.

All of the vehicles and garages appear to have been unlocked, according to police. In each instance, the vehicles were ransacked. No losses were reported in all but one of the cases where a leather bag valued at $30 was taken.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Oak Park Police at 708.386.3800 or police@oak-park.us. Anonymous tips may be made by calling 708.434.1636 or via link posted at www.oak-park.us/police.
