Eye on the Ike - Air Quality & Noise - Austin Interchange

The discussion of the impact of a reconstructed Eisenhower Expressway on air quality and noise will continue at a Village Board study session scheduled for 7 p.m., Mon., Sept. 28, 2015 in Village Hall, 123 Madison St. In the previous discussion on Aug. 24, 2015, the focus was on the western portion of the highway and the Austin Boulevard interchange.

In this latest meeting, the focus will be on the eastern portion of the highway and the Austin Boulevard interchange. How the location of the ramps affects these aspects of the project will be part of the discussion as well.

The recommended height and locations of sound-reducing infrastructure will be addressed at a later meeting. Residents are invited to review a draft of the presentation to the Village Board about Illinois Department of Transportation plans, watch the videos and share their comments with the Village Board. A three-dimensional model also is on display at Village Hall, 123 Madison St.

Very interested in any air quality studies of what will happen during the construction period (and afterwards). Also, will be there any discussion of CTA plans for a western entrance to the Austin stop?

I live at 1015 Scoville Ave. I looked at the study and found the majority of the places have a C or worse grade. 'B' is recommended for residential. I find the noise from the expressway frightful. When the wind is from the north, we have to close all of our windows.
Please make sure we get sound control. Thank you, Mary Kelly
