Village of Oak Park to Host Spring Clean-Up Event on April 13

March 18, 2024 - In celebration of Earth Month and National Volunteer Week during the month of April, the Village of Oak Park and the Village Clerk’s Office are organizing the 2024 Oak Park Spring Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, April 13.

This family-friendly event will begin with a complimentary light breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at Village Hall (123 Madison St.). From 9 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m., volunteers, including Oak Park elected officials and staff, will take the streets for a coordinated effort to clean up the community. The Village will be providing heavy duty trash bags, coated safety gloves, brooms, shovels, litter pickers, etc. for the event.

“Oak Park is a beautiful community and we must work together to ensure that it stays that way not only today, but for generations to come,” said Oak Park Village President Vicki Scaman. “I am looking forward to participating alongside young people, friends, neighbors of all ages, and my colleagues on the Board. We’ll even have a little fun while potentially identifying additional ways to support our neighborhoods together.”

“We are excited to bring Oak Park together in the spirit of partnership to improve our community and its neighborhoods,” said Village Clerk Christina M. Waters. “Events like this can only help us continue strengthening the pathway toward building a culture of service and support among Oak Parkers. We look forward to this particular event and all others that help bring us together for a great cause because we all have a role to play.”

Volunteers of all ages will be welcomed to participate and will receive a neighborhood cleanup t-shirt. All participants, or a guardian, will be asked to sign a liability waiver on site before the start of the activity.

The Village has created a sign-up form for interested participants to utilize. This information is being gathered solely to assist with planning and communication for the event. Please click here or visit www.bit.ly/vop413 to sign up today.
