Ordinance prohibiting overnight operation
Wednesday, November 16, 2022  ::   A new Village ordinance prohibiting the operation of service stations and retail goods establishments between midnight and 5 a.m. is set to go into effect following a ruling in the Circuit Court of Cook County on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022.

Tuesday, November 15, 2022  ::   As colder weather sets in, the Oak Park Health Department is reminding residents of ways everyone can help reduce the impact and spread of common fall and winter illnesses.
Avoid electricity service scams
Tuesday, November 15, 2022  ::   If someone calls or knocks on your door promising a better deal on electricity, proceed with caution. Enrollment for Oak Park’s municipal electricity aggregation program typically opens in the fall when notices are mailed to all eligible customers.
Fall leaf collection now underway
Tuesday, October 25, 2022  ::   The annual fall leaf collection program is scheduled for Oct. 31 – Dec. 9 with six pickups planned for each section of the Village.
Trick-or-treat hours set for Halloween
Tuesday, October 25, 2022  ::   Hours for Halloween trick or treating in the Village are 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. Parents are encouraged to accompany young children, especially after dark, and inspect all treats.
Johnson appointed Chief of Police
Tuesday, October 25, 2022  ::   Village Manager Kevin Jackson announced today that Shatonya Johnson has been appointed as Oak Park Chief of Police, following a comprehensive national search. Johnson is the first female to hold the position of Police Chief.
Village extends aggregation contract
Tuesday, October 18, 2022  ::   The Village of Oak Park has extended its electricity aggregation contract with Chicago-based MC Squared Energy Services, LLC (mc2) through December 2025. The contract ensures aggregation participants will never pay more than those customers whose electricity is supplied by ComEd.
Oak Park Police respond to incident on Harlem Avenue
Thursday, October 13, 2022  ::   Oak Park Police are responding to an incident involving an individual in distress on the 1100 block of N. Harlem Ave. Officers initially responded shortly after 11 a.m. to reports of an individual armed and barricaded in his apartment. As of 6 p.m., the Oak Park Police Department and the Cook County Sherriff’s Office remain on the scene working to resolve the situation.
Raising awareness of breast cancer
Wednesday, October 12, 2022  ::   The Oak Park Public Health Department is marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October by sharing information about local resources available to help fight the disease.
President names pick for Trustee seat
Thursday, October 6, 2022  ::   Cory J. Wesley, an Oak Park resident involved with a number of community organizations, has been selected to fill the remainder of the term of former Village Trustee Arti Walker-Peddakotla, who recently resigned. The Village Board will vote on Wesley appointment next Monday.
