Sculpture Walk returns for a fourth year on June 7

May 19, 2015 - The Village of Oak Park’s Sculpture Walk will return for a fourth season on June 7. This year the outdoor event will take place on Chicago Avenue between Austin and Ridgeland. The exhibit will spotlight 12 pieces of art from established sculptors and emerging newcomers located along a five-block stretch of Chicago Avenue, perfect for a self-guided walking tour.

Artists were selected for the Sculpture Walk following a juried competition. Sculptures in the exhibit are constructed from a variety of materials, including steel, bronze, fiberglass and  recycled objects. Visitors are encouraged to pick up a brochure online, at local libraries and area businesses along the route, as well as at the Oak Park Visitors’ Center, 1010 Lake St.

The Sculpture Walk’s opening day will coincide with A Day in Our Village, Oak Park’s annual festival which invites residents to discover the diversity and variety of civic, cultural, social service, business, educational and religious organizations and groups in the Village. Sculpture Walk brochures will be available at the festival.

The Sculpture Walk will be open to visitors through Sept. 7.

The Sculpture Walk is organized by the Public Art Advisory Commission, a group of citizen volunteers that promotes the acquisition and placement of public art that reflects diversity and artistic expression and enhances the aesthetic environment of the Village.
