Phone, wallet taken from pedestrian

Dec. 18, 2017 – Oak Park Police are investigating the robbery of a pedestrian that occurred at about 6:40 a.m., today near Harrison Street and Carpenter Avenue.  No weapons were involved and no contact was made between the victim and suspect.

The victim told police she was walking eastbound on the sidewalk along the north sidewalk of Harrison Street approaching Carpenter Avenue when a man walked westbound past her. Within a minute, the victim reported being approached from behind and heard a male voice telling her not to turn around and demanding her possessions.

The victim did turn around and observed the same man who had just walked past her. She described the man as African American in his 40s, approximately 6-feet tall wearing a blue puffy jacket with the hood up and light colored jeans.

Victim gave up her wallet and an older iPhone, then fled back to her home in the 700 block of Home Avenue and called to report the incident about 10 minutes after it had occurred.
