A Day in Our Village festival taking place June 5

May 25, 2016 - The 43rd annual A Day In Our Village festival celebrating diversity and community involvement is scheduled for Sunday, June 5.
 

More than 140 information and activity booths representing Oak Park civic, cultural, social service, educational, religious and business organizations will fill Scoville Park, Lake Street and Oak Park Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
 

Other highlights include performances by four different members of the Blues Hall of Fame and a food court featuring local restaurants. The popular Charity Dunk Tank will be in operation from noon to 3 p.m., with proceeds benefitting local charities.
 

Performances will take place throughout the day on the Scoville Park Stage, with The Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest starting things off at 11 a.m.


The show takes a turn toward the blues as David Chainsaw DuPont takes the stage at noon and Ivy Ford follows at 1 p.m. Blues Hall of Famer Sam Cockrell performs at 2 p.m., followed by fellow Hall of Famers Sheryl Youngblood at 3 p.m., Mike Wheeler at 4 p.m. and Cadillac Groove at 5 p.m.
 

Rehm Park and Pool, located at Garfield Street and East Avenue, also will offer many activities for families from 1 to 6 p.m., with $5 wristbands providing unlimited access to carnival games, an inflatable bounce house, inflatable obstacle course and more. The Rehm Park Hand-Powered Trains are among the free activities being offered, and music and refreshments from local restaurants will also be available in Rehm Park.


A free shuttle bus will provide transportation between Scoville Park and Rehm Park from noon to 4 p.m.
