Body of missing Oak Park woman believed found in Forest Park

Dec. 2, 2015 – Forest Park Police today found a body matching the description of Oak Park resident Alicia H. Yaus who had been missing since the afternoon of Sat. Nov. 28.

Responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle, the body was found at about 3:30 p.m. in a vehicle parked in a secluded area behind a building in an industrial area near 15th Street and Circle Avenue.

The responding officer verified the vehicle as being registered to Yaus.

Positive identification has yet to be made. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified and Oak Park detectives have met with the Yaus family to inform them this of this latest development.

The incident will now be classified as a death investigation, which will be conducted by the Forest Park Police Department with the cooperation of the Oak Park Police Department.

All inquiries about the death investigation are being directed to the Forest Park Police Department.

Yaus, 48, of the 500 block of Forest Avenue, was reported missing by her family early Sunday morning. Police immediately launched a search that included using national and state databases to search for her vehicle. Police also disseminated an emergency missing person alert to law enforcement agencies across the region, including Dupage, Will, Lake and Cook counties.

Oak Park Police Chief Rick C. Tanksley thanked the community and news outlets for their help in quickly spreading the word about the search for Yaus.

He also acknowledged the support of law enforcement agencies throughout the region that quickly focused their resources on the search.
