The Oak Park Farmers' Market is held every Saturday from opening day through October in the Pilgrim Congregational Church parking lot at 460 Lake Street.
Here is what's happening at the Market this week:
Bake sale: Oak-Leyden Developmental Services
Guest vendor: Bushel and Peck's
Chef demo: Chef Ryan and Chef Emily from The Heritage will offer a cooking demonstration with samples from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Vendor notes:
Michigan fruit growers (numerous vendors) - We are excited about the sweet cherries arriving this week in abundance. The tart cherries will make an appearance the first weekend in July. This is the last week of strawberries - get them while you can and freeze them. However; we are offering the first raspberries of the season and some blueberries. They are not abundant yields, so come early before we sell out. July is going to be the month for blueberries!
Please remember to bring your empty yogurt containers with lids for berries or storage containers like tupperware to transport your produce. The Oak Park Farmers' Market is working to reduce single-use plastic bag use and other landfill waste at the Market.
Katic Breads - This week we are offering blue cheese roasted walnut bread and a pistachio blackberry croissant.
Prairie Wind Farm - Zucchini, cucumbers and beets are here!
Herbally Yours - We are back this week (every other week) with our award-winning artisanal herb-infused vinegars (featured in Michelin Guide Chicago 2013). Also, we offer dried herb rubs and herb blends. We grow all the ingredients ourselves and do not add salt nor MSG. We trust you to add your own salt or sugar, to your liking.
River Valley Ranch - Our year-round harvest of five varieties of (chemical-free) mushrooms and seasonal harvest of vegetables and herbs will be out in full force this Saturday. Check out our handcrafted food products (mushroom tamales, sauces, granolas, dips, pastas, etc.) and farm-to-table cuisine.
Bushel and Peck's - We love coming to OPFM as a pop-up vendor, so you do not have to make a road-trip to our Beloit store and farm. From our best-selling hot-sauces to fermented jarred items; our preservation kitchen products are unique because we grow everything ourselves. We will be present this Saturday and next SATURDAY - and we will not be back in OP until August. Store up now for the summer.
Finn’s Ranch - Try our new items this week: Hand-crafted Oberon beer brats, tri tip steak and smoked pork chops. Our pastures are organic certified with certified grassfed beef cattle and animal welfare approved laying hens. Enjoy non-gmo meat and eggs (including duck eggs) from our family farm.
