This position provides the leadership that defines the Oak Park Police Department as a premier community-based policing department. The Police Chief directs all operations and activities of the Police Department, pursuant to legal mandate and the direction of the Village Manager.
Duties encompass planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Police Department, including field operations, criminal investigations, management services and records administration.
The Police Chief also coordinates assigned activities with other Village departments and outside agencies, provides leadership in building strong community and officer relationships, and highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Village Manager.
Providing oversight and control of all law enforcement functions of the Village requires broad interpretive judgment within prescribed standards and procedures.
