Pace hosting public budget hearing to address bus route reductions

Pace has scheduled a public budget hearing for 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at inside the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd. in Forest Park. Click here for more information about the public hearing.

As part of its proposed 2023 budget, Pace is proposing to permanently eliminate many bus routes that have been suspended since early in the pandemic.  In Oak Park, this includes the Madison Street bus route 320 and also route 757 that originates in Schaumburg and runs along Harlem Avenue from I-290 to the CTA Green Line. The permanent elimination of routes would become effective on November 10.

Pace has also been running reduced service on route 311 on Oak Park Avenue and route 314 on Ridgeland Avenue since COVID-19 began. Pace is proposing to make these service reductions permanent.

Members of the public who wish to provide comments on Pace’s proposed 2023 budget may do so by attending the in-person hearing; registering for the virtual hearings; submitting comments online via Pace’s Public Hearing Feedback webpage or by email to Public.Hearings@PaceBus.com; calling 847.354.7943; or by sending comments via mail to Pace, Community Relations Department, 550 W. Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005-4412. All comments must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.
