Residents urged to respond promptly to water meter notices

Water meters upgrades…Property owners who receive a letter from the Village asking them to call a private vendor or visit the company’s website to set up an appointment to replace a water meter are urged to respond without delay. The 30-minute process does not require any plumbing changes although the water will be turned off during the upgrade. The new water meters feature integrated radio technology and digital registers that greatly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the usage reading. Fixing faulty water meters..Any property owner who finds a notice on the door or in the mailbox from the Village requesting an appointment to inspect what may be a faulty water meter is urged to respond promptly to avoid loss of the water supply. Water meters are designed to be read remotely, but can malfunction, requiring the Village to estimate usage and set up an appointment to inspect the device inside the home. If you receive a notice, contact the Public Works Department at 708.358.5700 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. Appointments are available on the hour between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Properly functioning water waters can aid in identifying potentially costly leaks.
