The year just passed was an active one for business investment in Oak Park, with more than $2.3 million spent by newcomers and current operators who relocated to improve their operations.
The 60 new businesses that chose Oak Park in 2014 occupied 93,000 square feet of commercial space and generated 300-plus new employment opportunities. Another 20 existing businesses chose to reinvest in the community at a new or expanded location, keeping some 100 jobs in the Village.
The demographics of Oak Park residents continued to appeal to a broad range of business types including general merchandise retailers, food service operators, restaurants and a wide assortment of professional and personal services organizations.
