Tuesday, June 26, 2018  ::   The Oak Park Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the state in stepping up traffic enforcement with a focus on drunk and unbuckled drivers during the Independence Day holiday, an all-too-often deadly time on Illinois roads.
Monday, June 25, 2018  ::   A 28-year-old Chicago woman has been charged in connection with a panhandling incident that escalated into a stabbing in the early morning hours of June 17 by the East Avenue Blue Line exit. Diamond A. Gatewood of the 2000 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in Chicago has been charged with one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of aggravated battery.
Friday, June 22, 2018  ::   A juvenile is in custody in connection with two attempted carjackings at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday in the 800 block of Belleforte Avenue and 1200 block of Columbian Avenue. Neither vehicle was take and no injuries were reported.
Thursday, June 21, 2018  ::   The common practice of placing plastic bags in blue recycling carts drives up costs and drives down the value of the community's curbside recycling program. Clean plastic single-use bags should be returned to grocery stores and big-box retailers that collect them for proper recycling.
Monday, June 18, 2018  ::   Local housing officials will conduct a free seminar for condominium owners and association board members on June 28 to discuss changes to the Illinois Condominium Property Act.
Wednesday, June 6, 2018  ::   The seventh annual Oak Park Sculpture Walk is underway with 12 sculptures on display in an outdoor exhibit along Oak Park Avenue just north and south of the Eisenhower Expressway between Lexington and Van Buren streets.
Thursday, May 31, 2018  ::   The most high-profile project on the horizon this summer will repair and replace deteriorating water and sewer mains and resurface the roadway along sections of North Boulevard and South Boulevard between Marion Street and Oak Park Avenue.
Thursday, May 24, 2018  ::   Diversity and community involvement will be celebrated at the 45th annual A Day in Our Village festival Sunday, June 3. More than 150 information and activity booths representing Oak Park organizations and businesses will fill Scoville Park during the event.
Wednesday, May 23, 2018  ::   A Chicago man has been charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of possession of a controlled substance in connection with the shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at 800 W. Madison Street.
Sunday, May 20, 2018  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating an attempted carjacking that was reported at about 10:35 a.m., on Saturday, May 19 in the 1100 block of S. Taylor Avenue.
