Village Hall cancels meetings; travel expected to be difficult

Feb. 5, 2019 - With the area's first ice storm in nine years predicted for tonight, Village Hall will close to the public at 5 p.m. and cancel all scheduled meetings, including the Police Department's Zone 2 neighborhood meeting at the Field Center.

The Chicago metropolitan area, including Oak Park, is predicted to receive ice accumulation of up to two tenths of an inch. Power outages and tree damage are possible and travel could be nearly impossible on untreated surfaces.

The ice storm warning is in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m., Wednesday. Public Works crews are preparing to respond by salting streets in Oak Park overnight and through the Wednesday morning rush.

Information on the latest road conditions is posted by the Illinois Department of Transportation at www.gettingaroundillinois.com.
