Suspect held in connection with Austin Boulevard shootings

April 7, 2014 - A suspect is in custody in connection with the April 2 shooting at a 22-unit apartment building on the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard in Oak Park.

The suspect, Kelsey Jones, 37, was taken into custody at his Chicago home Saturday. Jones, who is facing federal charges, is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago pending further proceedings.

On April 2, two men were shot as they parked their vehicle in the lot behind the Oak Park apartment building at about 9 p.m. Neither victim suffered life-threatening wounds.

The investigation is continuing in conjunction with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Prosecutors caution that the defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial. The government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
