Oak Park Police Department mourns loss

Nov. 21, 2016 - It is with great sadness that the Village of Oak Park must report the tragic death of a member of its police family.

Anthony P. Razzino, 45, was discovered by a friend at about 4:30 p.m. Friday in his South Oak Park Avenue home.

“Words can’t express the sorrow I felt when I learned of this tragic incident,” said Oak Park Police Chief Anthony Ambrose. “I have known Officer Razzino since he joined the force. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

Razzino joined the Oak Park Police Department in March 2001, serving in various capacities including a successful tenure as a residential beat officer. He was a graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School and the University of Illinois Chicago. Prior to beginning his law enforcement career he had served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps.
