Oak Park Police announce Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket campaign results

Dec. 3, 2019 - The Oak Park Police Department joined law enforcement agencies across the state in stepping up its usual traffic enforcement efforts around the busy Thanksgiving holiday.

A total of 27 vehicles were stopped in Oak Park and 27 citations were issued as part of the Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Thanksgiving safety campaign.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up. The enforcement campaign took place from Nov. 22 through Dec. 2.

During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.

The “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns are funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The crackdown runs concurrently with a media campaign reminding motorists that impaired driving has “Life or Death” consequences.
