Oak Park man charged with felony hit and run

Dec. 18, 2020 – An 81-year-old Oak Park man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident earlier this month on Lake Street that left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries.

Richard E. Lillquist, of the 900 block of Washington Boulevard, was charged Wednesday with one count of felony hit and run as well as other traffic violations.

The victim remains at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood with two broken hips, but is expected to fully recover.

The incident occurred at about 9 p.m., on Dec. 2 on Lake Street just west of Austin Boulevard.

The victim, a 49-year-old Oak Park woman who lives in the 100 block of North Harvey Avenue, told investigators she was walking home from Pete’s Fresh Market with groceries when she was struck by an unknown vehicle as she crossed north in a crosswalk on Lake Street at Lombard Avenue.

Police say a say private video surveillance cameras aided in the investigation.

Lillquist was released on a $10,000 I-Bond, with a hearing date likely in January. As a Class 2 felony, he could face up to seven years in prison.
