Nominations being sought for community awards

July 10, 2018 - Each year the Village recognizes efforts made by organizations, individuals and businesses to improve the Oak Park through property preservation, sustainability and accessibility.

Nominations are now being sought for the 2018 awards. Winners will be announced and recognized at a ceremony scheduled for Dec. 12 at Village Hall.

Accessibility

The Disability Access Awards are chosen by the Disability Access CommissionBusinesses, organizations and other entities that provide extraordinary accessibility for patrons with disabilities and their families may be nominated for this award.

Nominations should be for efforts to provide easy access to people with disabilities, create an inviting physical space and offer a welcoming, helpful, service-oriented attitude. 

The deadline for nominations is Oct. 13. Find more details and an online nomination form at www.oak-park.us/accessawards.

Historic Preservation

The Historic Preservation Awards are chosen each year by the Historic Preservation CommissionNomination categories include restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, additions/new construction, stewardship, detail and design.

Nominations need not be in a historic district and interior work may be considered in conjunction with exterior work. 

The deadline for nominations is Oct. 12. More details are at www.oak-park.us/preservationawards.

Sustainability:

The Green Awards are presented each year by the Environment & Energy Commission as a way of recognizing individuals, groups, green installations and organizations that have demonstrated leadership as stewards of the Oak Park environment.

Each award recognizes a particular project that had an impact on life in Oak Park. Last year's awards showcased Hatch Elementary School’s Hatch Patch Garden, Birding and Bird Habitat Conservation efforts, Monarch Butterfly Corridor work and Zero Waste coordination in the Village of Oak Park.

Nominations may be submitted on behalf of any person, organization, group or business.
