May 4, 2019 - An 18-year-old Oak Park man died late this afternoon from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at about 10 a.m., today on Oak Park Avenue near Adams Street.
The man, believed to be a senior at Oak Park River and Forest High School, was pronounced dead at about 5 p.m. while being treated at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
The preliminary investigation determined that the victim’s vehicle was traveling south on Oak Park Avenue when he attempted to pass another southbound vehicle and struck a northbound vehicle head on.
The northbound vehicle also struck the other southbound vehicle and an unoccupied parked vehicle.
Neither of the other drivers was injured, but Oak Park Avenue was closed between Jackson Boulevard and Adams Street for nearly five hours as investigators gathered evidence and the cleared the scene.
The investigation is continuing. More information will be released as it becomes available.
