The Intergovernmental Committee of Oak Park (IGOV) is hosting its annual Spring Assembly event at Brooks Middle School, 325 S. Kenilworth, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The focus/theme of the session, which is open to the public, will be all about Oak Park government. Masks are required for all individuals attending the event.
During “Do You Know…Oak Park Government 101,” community members are invited to learn about individual governing partners and the differences between the boards and staff responsibilities. Community members will also be introduced to new village leaders.
IGOV consists of two elected officials from each of the six Oak Park governing partners (Oak Park District 97, Village of Oak Park, Oak Park Public Library, OPRF District 200, Park District of Oak Park and Oak Park Township). Below is the vision, mission and values statement for the committee.
- Through IGOV, Oak Park’s taxing bodies work together to provide the community with a more informed and responsive government.
- To discuss issues that impact each taxing body or the community as a whole.
- To inform members of each governmental body of the issues and actions of the other governmental bodies with the expectation that members will report back to their boards.
- To hold semi-annual forums on topics of general interest to the community
- To build relationships between elected officials in each taxing body.
- Government works best when we work together.
- Sharing information across governmental bodies improves decision making.
- Collaboration allows for the efficient use of limited resources.
