Yopchick to lead communications
Thursday, October 6, 2022  ::   Dan Yopchick will join the Village as the Chief Communications Officer effective Monday, Oct. 10, Village Manager Kevin Jackson announced today. Yopchick has worked in communications for more than 15 years.
In-person Board meetings resume
Thursday, October 6, 2022  ::   The Oak Park Village Board of Trustees will soon return to in-person meetings at Village Hall for the first time in more than two years. As was the case prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Village Board meetings will be open to the public, but now a hybrid option will also be available via Zoom.
Plans for 1144 Lake St. no longer moving forward
Friday, September 30, 2022  ::   Plans for Dom’s Kitchen and Market to occupy the vacant office space at 1144 Lake St. are not moving forward, the Village has learned. According to officials involved in the lease discussions, Dom’s determined after completing detailed space plans that the two-story space did not work for its hybrid grocery concept.
Police investigate shooting at Ridgeland and Ontario
Wednesday, September 21, 2022  ::   Oak Park Police responded at around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Ridgeland Avenue and Ontario Street. According to witnesses, a gray sedan was stopped in the westbound lane of Ontario at Ridgeland when the driver of a white sedan pulled up alongside, leaned out the window and began firing in the direction of the gray sedan.
Community survey process underway
Tuesday, September 20, 2022  ::   Surveys soon will begin arriving in the mailboxes of Oak Parkers selected at random to help the Village gauge citizen views on a wide range of community aspects and issues.
Village sets climate plan in motion
Wednesday, September 14, 2022  ::   This summer the Village Board approved Climate Ready Oak Park, a comprehensive, long-range plan that provides a vision, goals and actions to make Oak Park more sustainable and resilient. The plan was created through a months-long process.
Nominations for community awards
Tuesday, September 6, 2022  ::   The Village is once again planning to recognize efforts made by organizations, individuals and businesses to improve Oak Park through property preservation and sustainability. Nominations are now being sought for the 2022 Stewardship Awards.
Police investigate shooting on Madison Street
Friday, August 26, 2022  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating a shooting that occurred this afternoon in the vicinity of Madison Street and East Avenue that left one man hospitalized. Officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired at around 1:10 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, a 26-year-old Chicago man was located with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his leg.
This Labor Day, drive safe and sober
Thursday, August 25, 2022  ::   As residents plan their end-of-summer celebrations to mark the Labor Day weekend, the Oak Park Police Department is partnering with law enforcement across the state to stop unbuckled and impaired driving.
