Runners take streets

The Park District of Oak Park’s annual Frank Lloyd Wright Races will bring street closures along the route from about 7:30 to 11 a.m., Sun., Oct. 23, including from Lake Street north to Division Street. Traffic on other streets within the race route also may experience delays.

Residents are encouraged to review the course map at www.flwraces.com and allow for extra travel time.

The event, now in its 40th year, will feature a 5K run/walk, 10K run and youth mile for ages 7 to 14. All events start at Scoville Avenue and Ontario Street, just east of Oak Park River Forest High School and finish on Scoville in front of the school. The course for the 10K race passes eight buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, including the Home and Studio on Chicago Avenue.

Anyone interested in helping with this community event is invited to volunteer at www.flwraces.com/volunteering.
